Gunung Agung (Mount Agung) is a mountain in Bali, Indonesia. In the early 20th century, Walter Spies, who is a German painter, composer, pianist, and writer, was living in Iseh village lies at the foot of Gunung Agung. He was attracted to the Balinese culture and the nature in Bali, then he had developed the Balinese dance and music drama with local artists such as Kecak and he had sometime taught painting to local people. He was a key person between local artists and western visitors. Since that time, he has influenced the direction of Balinese art and Balinese drama.
